Five-Set Showdown: Thunder Men's Volleyball Pushes The King's University Eagles to the Limit

(EDMONTON, AB) In a thrilling men's volleyball showdown at the Ralph King Athletic Centre, the Concordia Thunder battled fiercely against The King's University Eagles. Despite a valiant effort, the Eagles secured a hard-fought victory with a final score of 3-2. The match showcased intense rallies and exceptional performances from both sides.

The first two sets saw The King's University taking an early 2-0 lead with a 25-15 win and a 25-17 win over Concordia. Setter Hudson Forsberg (#13) orchestrated the offense effectively for the Eagles, providing 14 assists over the two sets. The Thunder were led early on by players like Kurt Niehoff (#8), who contributed 7 kills over the first two sets, but it was not enough to cool down the Eagles hot start.

The third set marked the start of a comeback for the Thunder, as Concordia got back into the game by claiming a thrilling 27-25 set victory. The home crowd rallied behind the Thunder, creating an electric atmosphere. The fourth set was equally intense, with both teams battling point for point. The Eagles fought hard, forcing the set into extra points, but Concordia continued to fight back, ultimately securing a 26-24 set win, and tying the game 2-2. During Sets 3 and 4, the Thunder tallied a total of 30 kills combined to go along with 9 blocks and 26 assists. Kai Rosnau's (#7) precise setting and Noah Michalczuk's (#13) powerful attacks played pivotal roles in the comeback.

In the decisive fifth set, Concordia continued to push for the win, but The King's University sealed the match with a 15-9 set victory. Despite the loss, the Thunder showcased tremendous resilience, battling back after being down 2-0 in the game.

Concordia Men's Volleyball now heads over to The King's University to play their final game tomorrow night before heading into the winter break. The team remains focused on building on the positives from this great matchup.
