Thunder Fall in Saturday Night Affair with Rustlers

Thunder Fall in Saturday Night Affair with Rustlers

EDMONTON, AB (February 26, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder men's volleyball team welcomed the Lakeland Rustlers Saturday night as they wrapped up their regular season. After an intense night of back and forth play, the Rustlers took the match 3-1.

A nail biter of a first set saw both teams coming out strong and exchanging points back and forth. The Rustlers found their rhythm and snuck away with the first set 28-26. The second set saw both teams working hard point by point but the Rustler took the second set 25-18. The Thunder worked hard to keep things tight with the Rustlers and in an intense back and forth took the third set 34-32. Another strong set by both teams in the fourth set. Finding their momentum, the Rustlers took the set 26-24 to take the match 3-1.

Head coach Ken McLaughlin spoke after the game about his team's performance: "Emotional night as our graduating seniors #12 Ethan Murray and #13 James Bryce saw their last night in a Thunder uniform. We ended the season off with a season best performance from a number of our athletes including #2 Nathan Lane and #5 Wyatt Turnbull."

The One Team Sports players of the game were #1 Lane Blight for the Lakeland Rustlers and for #13 James Bryce Concordia Thunder.

Concordia University of Edmonton would like to recognize their graduating players #12 Ethan Murray and #13 James Bryce and wish them all the very best and success in their future endeavors.
