Big Second Half Puts Thunder Over King’s

Big Second Half Puts Thunder Over King’s

EDMONTON, AB (February 20, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed The King's University Eagle's Sunday night to continue their regular season. After an intense and close matchup, the Thunder take the win 69-66.

The King's Eagles came out strong in the first quarter, taking points early on. Finding their momentum, the Thunder worked to close the gap but the Eagles took the first quarter 21-14. Thunder continued to chip away at the Eagles lead and even outscored them 18-15 but ultimately, the half went to the Eagles 36-32. Thunder came in ready to work and full of intensity. Finding their momentum, the Thunder outscored the Eagles to 23-15 to take the third quarter 55-51. Looking to take back the lead, the Eagles fought hard and kept their lead to take an intense game 69-66.

After the game, Thunder head coach Reagan Wood commented, "Proud of the guys tonight for stepping up and getting this win. We absolutely had to save our playoff chances and we got it done. Big plays from so many guys at key times helped us pull this one out."

The One Team Sports Players of the game were #6 Nick Gregersen for the King's Eagles and #14 Alex MacLean for the Concordia Thunder.

The Thunder welcome the Keyano Huskies Friday, February 25th for their last home game of the regular season. Join us on campus at Concordia's Ralph King Athletic Centre or online at ACACTV.ca!
