EDMONTON, AB - The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder continued their season as they welcomed The King's University Eagles in Friday matinee action. A tight game early on, the Thunder couldn't complete the late game comeback as they fall 2-1.
The game started off as a defensive back and forth as neither team could break through. The Eagles were finally able to break through in the 31' when #16 Kalie Maskell fought through the Thunder backline to give them a 1-0 lead heading into the half. The second half started the same as the first with a tight defensive battle. The Eagles were able to breakthrough again in the 61' and add to their lead as #10 Gaby Rocque made it a 2-0 game. The Thunder immediately turn up the heat pushing to to tie things up, getting one in added time from #10 Breanna Callander. However, the Thunder weren't able to add an equalizer as the Eagles take this one 2-1. The Big Time Sports players of the game were #12 Sarah McClelland for the Thunder and #6 Taylor Hrycun for the Eagles.
After the game, first year Thunder defender Anne McClelland commeted on the game: "we had a lot of chances, but unfortunately we couldn't finish"
The Thunder continue their schedule as they welcome the Portage College Voyageurs tomorrow afternoon.
