Concordia Men’s Basketball Falls Short as Briercrest Bests Thunder

Concordia Men’s Basketball Falls Short as Briercrest Bests Thunder

(EDMONTON, AB) In a challenging matchup, the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder faced a formidable opponent in the Briercrest College Clippers, ultimately falling short by a score of 97-73 in their final home game of the regular season.

Briercrest's offense was led by a balanced scoring effort, with Owen Shepherd-Hills leading his team with an outstanding 22 points, including five successful three-pointers. Zachary Martens of the Clippers also dominated the boards with an impressive 14 rebounds and contributed 6 points to his team's total.

Notable players for the Thunder included Yaadvir Dhaliwal, who's tenacious play allowed him to lead the team with 10 rebounds and 7 assists to go along with his 8 points on the night. Kyler Dutka and Nick Gibb also made significant contributions, each scoring double-digit points to keep the Thunder in contention.

Despite their best efforts, the Thunder struggled to find their rhythm offensively or defensively, opening the doors for the Clippers to take advantage. Once the Briercrest took the lead, they never gave it back. Though the outcome wasn't in their favor, the Thunder can learn from this game to help them bounce back, as they finish out the regular season on the road.

Concordia looks ahead to their next matchup on the road against Lethbridge College at 8:00pm on Friday February 16th. After today's game, the Thunder currently hold fourth place in the ACAC North Division with a 9-9 record.
