Thunder Takes the Win to Close Out Regular Season

EDMONTON, AB (February 25, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Keyano Huskies Friday night to close out their regular season. After a back and forth affair all night, the Thunder fought hard to keep the lead and take the win 68-62.

The first quarter started with both teams working hard and seeing a lot of back and forth play. Finding their momentum, the Thunder snuck away with the lead and took the quarter 19-17. Keeping their rhythm, the Thunder kept their lead and took the half 33-29. Huskies came out strong after the half, outscoring the Thunder early but Thunder fought hard and ultimately took the third quarter 49-47. Another tight quarter followed and a hard fought battle from both teams but the Thunder found themselves keeping their lead and widening the gap to take the game 68-62.

After the game, Thunder head coach Robbie Valpreda commented, "Tonight we fought hard and showed true resilience as we beat the 11th ranked National Women's Basketball Team. This was a great way to end the night for our graduating player #3 Brooke Froment."

The One Team Sports Players of the game were #13 Kiana Mintz for the Keyano Huskies and #3 Brooke Froment for the Concordia Thunder.

Concordia University of Edmonton would like to recognize their graduating player #3 Brooke Froment and wish her all the very best and success in her future endeavors.
