Kings Down Thunder on the Road to Remain in 3rd

Kings Down Thunder on the Road to Remain in 3rd

EDMONTON, AB – JANUARY 25, 2019

On Friday night the Red Deer Kings were in town to take on the Concordia Thunder at Clareview Arena where the Kings were able to pick up the 4-1 win on the road.

The Thunder found themselves down early on with an unlucky goal that deflected off of the glass behind the net and found its way behind keeper #30 Tanner McCorriston. Ryley Smith was credited the goal to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. The Thunder responded well to the early deficit by keeping the Kings off of the score sheet for the remainder of the period.

The second period was a defensive battle on both ends of the ice as the Thunder outshot the Kings 11-9. With 1:12 remaining in the period Thunders #37 Phil Dillon hammered home the tying goal before heading into the locker room.

The Kings managed to shock the crowd once again with an early opening goal as #13 Dylan Thudium scored at the 19:00 minute mark.

The Thunder managed to escape some penalty troubles and made a last minute effort to tie the game up by adding the extra attacker at the 1:30 mark however the Kings prevailed as #71 Ryley Smith added empty net goal for his second of the night. Before the final buzzer sounded, #13 Dylan Thudium added another goal to make it a 4-1 final.

Kings goalie #36 Troy Trombley picked up the win with 35 saves. Thunder's #30 Tanner McCorriston faced 37 shots in tonight's loss.

The ACAC players of the game are #71 Ryley Smith (RDC) and #30 Tanner McCorriston (CUE). Both teams will face each other again tomorrow night at the Canada Winter Games Centre in Red Deer, AB at 7:00PM.
