SAIT takes down the Thunder with a late 3rd period go-ahead goal

SAIT takes down the Thunder with a late 3rd period go-ahead goal

EDMONTON, AB – After a flawless first period by both goalies, SAIT opened up the scoring midway through the second period with a PowerPlay goal by Pat Martens. The loan goal in the second period stood to be the only goal until just 4 minutes into the third when the Thunder tied it back up with a PowerPlay goal from #21 Tyler Benko.

As the clock began to close in on the final minutes of play #15 Eric Krienke potted the go-ahead goal for the Trojans only to be answered right back just over a minute later by #37 Phil Dillon tying the game at two a piece.

Just as the final minute of play was announced, the Thunder applied some heavy pressure with many scoring opportunities, only to have the Trojans come back the other way and score with just 13 seconds left in the third period.

The Thunder will have a shot at redemption as they play the Trojans Saturday night!
