Thunder Come Up Short at ACAC MBB Championships

To kick off day two of the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championships the Red Deer College
Kings played the Concordia University Thunder. Heading into the last few minutes of the first
quarter, the score was close as teams were neck-in-neck with each other with a tied score of 18-18.
After the first quarter, both teams remain tied at 25-25.

Heading into the second quarter, both teams continue to show their energy and momentum in
the game. Half way through the quarter, the Thunder and Kings tie up the score with a 37-37.
At halftime #15 for the Thunder made two 3’s bringing their team in the lead 48-42 against the

Off the bat in the first minute of the third quarter the Kings shot two 3’s tying the score 48-48.
Their momentum was evident throughout this quarter as they had a strong comeback against
the Thunder. At the end of the third, Kings lead the scoreboard 69-60.

The Kings built off their energy from the previous quarter and remained to play strategically. Half
way through the last quarter, the Kings gained more points and led the score 82-68. The
Thunder called a timeout to restrategize their play but the Kings protected their defensive zone
and took the final win 95-76.

The 2020 ACAC Men’s Basketball Championship Player of the Game presented by Shaun Lal
on behalf of Cargill, was awarded to Thunder player, #15 Ronald Bacon Jr. and Kings player, #4
Anthony Harper.

The Thunder basketball season has officially come to an end and now head coach Reagan Wood will get back to drawing board to plan for next season. Congratulations on another successful basketball season!
