Calgary, AB (October 29, 2019) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Leonard Chesoo of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder has been named the ACAC Male Cross Country Runner of the Year.
After having a very impressive 2018-19 rookie campaign capturing the ACAC and CCAA silver medal along with being named ACAC Rookie of the Year and CCAA All-Canadian, Chesoo was ready to take his performance to the next level. This season, the second-year Bachelor of Science major finished in first place at each of the four ACAC Grand Prix events that he participated in followed by a first-place finish at the ACAC Cross Country Championships to put him on top of the podium to claim his first ACAC Cross Country gold medal.
Concordia's Director of Athletics and Recreation, Joel Mrak, is always impressed with the elite level of athleticism Leonard brings to each and every race stating, "Leonard was outstanding this season. It seems like he just keeps setting the bar higher with every race, and it is just fun to watch. He is a generational talent and a great ambassador for our university, department, and the sport of cross country running."
Leonard Chesoo received the award on October 26, 2019, at the ACAC Cross Country Conference Championship Banquet hosted by SAIT in Calgary, AB.
