EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the visiting Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) Wolves in Saturday afternoon action to close out their weekend series. The Wolves got their offense going, jumping out to an early lead. But the Thunder battled back, to grab they lead and never looked back as they went to a 69-47 win.
GPRC jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, and behind a stingy defence, held the Thunder to single digits in the opening period as they took a 16-8 lead at the end of the period. The tables turned in the second quarter, however, as the Thunder not only got their offense going, but also their defence as they outscored GPRC 16-4 in the quarter and lead the game 24-20 at the half. CUE continued this momentum into the third quarter as they widened their lead to 46-33 at the end of the third quarter. The Thunder carried this momentum also through the fourth quarter as they again outscored the Wolves in the period to extend their lead, finishing with a 69-47 final.
This concludes the weekend series between the Thunder and Wolves, with CUE coming away with a weekend sweep. The Thunder are on the road for the next two games before they return home on February 28 for Senior's Night and to close out their regular season home schedule.
The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #9 Sophie Leslie for the Wolves and #12 Madison Murdoch for the Thunder.
