EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Keyano Huskies in a Saturday afternoon matinee to close out their two game weekend series. The Huskies took the first set, but the Thunder controlled the match after that, winning the next three sets to win the match 3-1.
The entire match saw back and forth action, and the first set was no exception with the Thunder and Huskies exchanging points throughout the set. The Huskies, however took a lead late and never looked back as they took the first set 25-23. The second set was again a back and forth affair with both teams going on runs and exchanging leads. This time, however, the Thunder took a late lead and never looked back as they won the set 25-23. The Thunder carried this momentum into the third set as they jumped out to an early lead. Keyano stayed close, but were not able to overcome the Thunder lead as Concordia took the set 25-20. The fourth set saw the Huskies jump out to an early lead, but the Thunder managed to tie the set halfway through. From that point on both teams exchanged leads and points, but the Thunder pulled ahead late and never looked back as they took the set 25-22 to take the match 3-1.
This concludes the weekend series between Concordia and Keyano where both teams came away with a win. The Thunder will return to action next Saturday as they host the NAIT Ooks for Senior's Night to close out their regular season home schedule.
