EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the NAIT Ooks in Friday night action. The game was a strong back and forth affair, but the Ooks took a late lead and never looked back as they took this one over the Thunder 4-2.
The first period was a hard fought back and forth affair with both teams exchanging chances, but the goalies stood on their heads as we headed into the intermission tied 0-0. The goals starting coming in the second period however, as the Ooks struck within the first 30 seconds. The Thunder bounced back to score two straight to take the lead, but that lead was short lived as the Ooks tied it seconds later. That score line would hold into the second intermission, with the teams tied 2-2. The third period once again turned into a tightly fought defensive battle as the goalies kept the puck out of their nets for the majority of the period. However, the Ooks were able to find the back of the net late, then added an empty netter as they took this one 4-2.
The Thunder and Ooks meet again tomorrow night, as NAIT hosts the rematch. The Thunder will be looking to even the score. The Thunder return home next weekend for a two game series against the Briercrest Thunder.
The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #12 Ryan Piche for the NAIT Ooks and #19 Chad Hurtubise for the Thunder.
