Thunder Open With Pair of Wins at Curling Nationals

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MB - The Thunder Men's and Women's Curling Teams opened up the 2020 CCAA Curling Canada National Championships in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on Wednesday night with a pair of wins.

The Thunder women's team (1-0) opened up the championships in Draw #1 against ACAC rival Red Deer College Queens (0-1). After giving up a single point in the first end, the Thunder would score in 6 of the next 8 ends, cruising to an 8-5 win. The women's team will play Draw #3 on Wednesday morning against the NAIT Ooks.

On the men's side, the Thunder (1-0) started their national championship title defense against the Sault College Cougars (0-1) of the OCAA in Draw #2. The Thunder led from start to finish, as they defeated the Cougars 10-3. The men's team is back in action on Wednesday afternoon taking on the Humber Hawks (OCAA).
