Thunder Continue To Roll on Day 2 at CCAA Curling Canada National Championships

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MB - The Thunder Men's and Women's Curling Teams continued to roll at the 2020 CCAA Curling Canada National Championships in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on Day 2 of the event on Thursday.

The Thunder women's team (3-0) kicked off the morning draw with a matchup against their cross-town rival NAIT Ooks (1-2) in Draw #3. The Thunder got off to a hot start and never looked back as they outlasted the Ooks 12-8 for their second win of the championships.

Draw #5 of the women's championship was highlighted by the Thunder's gutsy win over the Fanshawe Falcons (1-2). The Falcons held a commanding 7-1 lead after four ends, but the Thunder got two in the fifth and stole singles in the remaining five ends to claw their way back to an 8-7 win.

The women's team will open up Draw #7 on Friday morning vs the University of Alberta, Augustana Vikings (1-2; ACAC).

On the men's side, the Thunder (2-1) found themselves in tough in Draw #4 vs the Humber Hawks (2-1) of the OCAA. Despite leading for most of the game, the team gave up 3 points in the 9th end and allowed the Hawks to steal 1 in the 10th end to ice the match.

In Draw #6 however, the Thunder would find their winning ways once again, with a solid win over ACAC neighbour NAIT Ooks (2-1) by a score of 8-3.

The men's team is back in action on Friday morning taking on the Fansahwe Falcons (3-0; OCAA).
