EDMONTON, AB (April 11, 2018) – It has been a career year for Thunder badminton athlete Takeisha Wang as it was announced on Tuesday that she is being honoured as the 2017-18 ACAC Overall Female Athlete of the Year.
The Concordia Thunder badminton team finished the regular season in 2nd place in the ACAC. Takeisha, a 3rd year Bachelor of Science student from Edmonton, Alberta, had an incredible season for the Thunder badminton team. Takeisha posted an impressive 11-1 record in women's singles and 8-1 in mixed doubles in four ACAC tournaments including the ACAC Championship where she captured the women's singles title. At the CCAA National Badminton Championships hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton, Takeisha had a perfect 5-0 record in the round robin and then won her two medal round games to capture the CCAA Women's Singles Gold Medal.
Takeisha has the ability to be an excellent student first with a 3.88 GPA, all while performing at the top level on the badminton courts. She has earned quite the collection of hardware from this 2017-18 season. Here is a list of her accomplishments:

Takeisha has been an excellent student athlete and ambassador for Thunder Athletics and Concordia University of Edmonton. She will be returning next year as a 4th year student where we are looking forward to watching her continued success on the court.
